The OHSAS 18001 standard is the most widely accepted and internationally recognised specification for health and safety. In 1999 OHSAS 18001 became the most prestigious management system over such guidance documents as (BS880) and propriety certification body documents for HSMS Certification. Today, a business without an effective Health and Safety Management System is at risk not only from lost working hours as a result of accidents at work but is then further penalised by the cost of liability and increased insurance premiums. Companies are coming under ever increasing commercial and regulatory pressures to control the Health and Safety risks within their operations. One way of doing this is to adopt a formalised approach to Health and Safety management by attaining OHSAS 18001. This standard is the most widely accepted and internationally recognised specification for Health and Safety. |
